Two-Year-Olds
Early Childhood Education Program

At Community Church Preschool, we create an environment that nurtures and embraces the high-energy of two-year-olds by giving them plenty of room to explore. Our program for this age group incorporates music and movement to introduce children to new skills in fun and memorable ways, build their confidence, and help strengthen their love of learning. A typical day can include songs, story-time, music, and movement during “Circle Time” and “Free Choice,” which gives children the opportunity to make choices about what activity they would like to participate in based on their own interests.

Our childhood program focuses on providing enriching learning experiences for young children in our child care center. Our classes are designed to support their brain development, promote literacy skills, and introduce new math concepts.

In addition to personal care and routines, our teachers focus on:

Approaches to Play and Learning
This is an age where children show interest in a growing range of ideas, people, and things. Our early childhood education curriculum and learning program encourages two-year-olds to begin to learn how to stay on task for a short period of time and persist with a challenge all through thoughtfully planned learning experiences that center around playtime.

Cognitive Development
At two, children are more active learners. We offer children opportunities to start building concepts and understanding in science, engineering, math, and more. Magnifying glasses, magnets, puzzles, stringing beads, linking toys, our science childhood program materials, math preschool program materials, pegs, and pegboards are just some of the items you’ll find in our classroom to help develop children’s cognitive skills.

Communication and Language Development
Through effective use of sounds and expressions, we encourage your child’s further development of their language and communication skills. We also introduce foreign language learning through songs and active play in our program. Communication can play a crucial role in child development with both our early childhood learning program and preschool program.

Physical Development
Playing outdoors, often twice a day, helps two-year-olds develop their motor skills. Through activities that incorporate play with scooping sand, pouring water, smearing paint, and kneading Play Doh, children begin to develop the fine motor skills that will contribute to their writing skills later on. We also continue to focus on other age-appropriate developmental skills, such as potty training in our childhood program. Physical childhood education is highly valued in our preschool program. This physical development learning program is an integral part of our curriculum.

Social and Emotional Development
Dramatic play has been proven to be an effective way to help young children learn social and emotional skills while developing their problem-solving abilities. As two-year-olds begin to transition from parallel play to interacting with their peers, we provide more opportunities in our preschool learning program to foster their growing sense of independence and curiosity about the world around them. We help role model how to get their needs met and to be aware of the needs of others in our early childhood education programs.
Three-Year-Olds
Early Childhood Education Program

Our preschool program is designed to encourage our three-year-olds to develop respect and appreciation for other cultures through our curriculum, including weekly Spanish classes taught by an experienced bilingual preschool teacher. Children learn language skills through stories, music, and games in an immersive, interactive environment, with a learning program tailored to preschoolers’ unique needs.

In addition to personal care and routines, our teachers focus on:

Approaches to Play and Learning
Our preschool learning program is designed for the growing interests of three-year-olds, our activities encourage children to actively participate in conversations, ask questions, and help one another learn and grow – all in a fun and playful way.

Cognitive Development
Our learning program continues to focus on fostering an early love of learning through playtime lessons that incorporate music and play. Children are learning age-appropriate scientific concepts (e.g., cause and effect), language, and vocabulary as they play with Legos, scales, measuring containers, and number and shape puzzles. Our childhood program provides great learning opportunities in a fun and nurturing environment.

Communication and Language Development
Our three-year-olds are encouraged to develop respect and appreciation for other cultures through weekly Spanish classes taught by an experienced instructor. Children learn foreign language skills through stories, music, and games in immersive, interactive, early childhood education program activities, with a curriculum tailored to preschoolers’ unique needs and increased learning opportunities. The learning program provides a head start for their early language development.

Physical Development
Our three-year-olds have many opportunities to develop their gross motor skills, including plenty of outdoor activities and water play such as pouring water through colanders and chasing bubbles with fly swatters. They are introduced to sports as part of learning about different cultures. Children also learn fun yoga poses that teach them greater control of their body movements while also helping them to identify feelings. Our preschool program provides early childhood education for three-year-olds, offering a comprehensive and diverse learning experience for proper child development.

Social and Emotional Development
We encourage children’s natural quest for independence in daily self-care tasks by allowing them to do for themselves what they can and supporting them as needed. Our early childhood education program offers a rich, meaningful balance of hands-on child-initiated, and teacher-guided learning experiences, providing a nurturing environment for growth and development.
Four-Year-Olds
Early Childhood Education Program

Young children are skilled learners, meaning they have the capability to learn many concepts at once. At four years old, our students in the Pre-K classroom, led by experienced preschool teachers, are getting ready to incorporate all that they are learning at the physical, cognitive, and social-emotional levels in order to make that important transition to kindergarten. Our Pre-K classroom utilizes the Learning Without Tears curriculum. Our focus on higher-level thinking within a safe and nurturing learning environment, where students learn to approach problems and attempt new challenges with an “I Can” attitude, means that they can carry these foundational skills with them to kindergarten and beyond.

Through activities that take into account different levels of ability and learning styles, we help strengthen the following areas in each child:

Approaches to Play and Learning
Because children learn best through teacher-facilitated play-based activities – with friends and on their own – our preschool program balances free play with child-initiated and teacher-directed and group activities. We always take different levels of ability and learning styles into consideration when developing appropriate activities for this age group to ensure each child’s needs are met in our childhood learning program.

Cognitive Development
Preschoolers engage in learning experiences that continue to expand on concepts related to science, math, and more. Children learn such skills as classification, organization, patterning, linear equations, addition, and subtraction through hands-on, meaningful, and relevant planned learning program experiences. Our early childhood education program teacher staff nurtures this growth through social studies, science, math, dramatic play, and creative movement.

Communication and Language Development
The more children practice writing or make writing motions in fun ways, the more they want to do it and the better they get at it. Our preschool program classrooms offer many ways for children to scribble and write. In addition, our four-year-olds participate in explorations of other cultures and languages that introduce Spanish, creating engaging ways to grow their language skills and spark a love of reading and writing. Our preschool teachers are dedicated to creating enriching learning opportunities in our learning program.

Physical Development
Strengthening fine motor skills is important for this age group. In our preschool classrooms, children in our early childhood education program are encouraged to turn pages in books, scoop and pour sand and water, stack blocks, link and connect beads, squeeze play dough, clay, and sponges, use tongs and tweezers to pick up small objects, shake musical instruments, string, and lace, stir, use spatulas and dress up in dramatic play. Our preschool teachers provide a wide range of physical development learning opportunities for children in our childhood program.

Social and Emotional Development
By this age, children are developing peer relationships and discovering self-discipline and control. Our focus on character education and service learning, as part of our early childhood education program, also helps preschoolers learn the importance of being a good neighbor. Our preschool teachers model such traits as gratitude and empathy, and then intentionally comment when they see children using each trait. Our Heart Projects help to deepen preschoolers’ understanding of these traits and give them confidence in their abilities to contribute to solving real-world problems, like supporting research for childhood cancer or helping children in need. Our learning program ensures holistic early child development.
